Automotive Technology is a multi-period, two-year program for 11th and 12th graders who are interested in the automotive industry for future employment. In this program you will learn how to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair most systems in a vehicle, including the engine, computer controls, steering, suspension, brakes and electrical systems. Troubleshooting and problem solving skills are essential in Automotive Technology, as the opportunity to diagnose and repair real problems on customers’ cars happens in class. Grades are derived from performance, professionalism, class work, tests, quizzes and laboratory practicals.

- Maintenance: lube, oil, filters, tire service
- Steering and Suspension systems, (incl. alignment)
- Brakes: disc, drum, anti-lock, traction control
- Electrical: diagnosis, starting, charging, lighting systems, warning lights, gauges, safety devices (including air bags)
- Workplace skills: working with others, carrying out repair projects, problem solving, following directions and orders
